A tourist fell off a cruise ship in the North Sea and is presumed dead – after sending his wife a heartbreaking last text saying he felt seasick, according to reports.
Liam Jones, 23, vanished from the MSC Euribia on March 16 during a seven-day cruise around Europe starting from Southampton in England while celebrating his mother’s birthday with his family, according to the Telegraph.
The Scottish social work student was last seen onboard by his sister after he texted his wife, Sophia Mcphee, at home that he was feeling seasick, according to the outlet.

“I feel so lost. He’s just … gone,” the 20-year-old wife told the Daily Record. “I’m never going to see him again. I’m devastated. I have so many questions, and I’m not getting any answers to what’s happened.”
Mcphee said she last saw her husband on March 14 when he traveled from their home to Glasgow to meet his family and board the ship the following day.
The Euribia embarked on a cruise to Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands before heading back to the UK on Friday.
Jones’ heartbroken wife said she was first contacted about his disappearance by his sister.
“She said there had been an accident and Liam wasn’t coming back,” Mcphee told the Record. “She then said she had seen CCTV and he’d gone overboard.“I’ve not had any contact from anyone since. I’ve been trying to get in contact with the MSC since Monday but it’s been a headache. They’re not getting back to me,” she added.

An MSC Cruises rep told the outlet: ”A passenger on board MSC Euribia went overboard on 16 March as the ship was sailing to Hamburg. This was reported to the authorities.
“The police in Southampton boarded the vessel today and investigated on behalf of the coroner. We are deeply saddened by this news and our thoughts are with the family at this very difficult time.
“Out of respect for the family’s privacy, we will refrain from disclosing any additional information,” the spokesperson added.

A representative for the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said it was “supporting the family of a British national following an incident in the Netherlands and are in contact with the local authorities.”
Paula Devlin, Jones’ sister, remembered him fondly as “the purest soul and best friend a sister could ask for,” Dublin Live reported.
The 1,085-foot-long Euribia can accommodate 6,327 passengers, according to the company’s website. The price of the seven-night Northern Europe tour starts at $950 per person.
