Kate Middleton spoke from the heart when making the announcement that she had been diagnosed with cancer.
“She wrote every word herself,” an insider told People Sunday, referencing the Princess of Wales’ video speech, which was filmed by the BBC in the gardens of Windsor Castle last week.
A separate source added, “She wrote the words herself, delivered it personally and wanted to decide when the time was right to hit the world with this news.”

Kensington Palace shared the emotional video Friday, in which the mother of three revealed doctors discovered cancer in her body following her abdominal surgery in January.
“In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous,” Middleton, 42, said in the clip.
“The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present.”

Earlier this week, a palace source told Page Six that William, 41, was doing his best to support his wife and his father, King Charles III, through their illness. The latter has also been diagnosed with cancer.
“William is doing his best, one minute he’s doing the school run and now he is under incredible stress,” the insider explained.
“He is a heartbeat away from the throne and he has his beastly brother and all of this publicity floating around,” they added, referencing his estranged brother, Prince Harry.
