Kate Middleton’s parents have thrown a “safety blanket” around her and Prince William’s three children following her cancer announcement, a royal expert has shared.
The Princess of Wales, 42, revealed on Friday that she has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment after doctors discovered the cancer during her planned abdominal surgery.
As she navigates her health woes in privacy, her parents Michael, 74, and Carole Middleton, 69, are providing her with a sense of comfort and stability when it comes to her children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5.
They are also grandparents to Pippa’s children: Arthur, 5, Grace, 3, and Rose, 1.

“They’ll have rallied around her, especially her young family,” royal commentator and biographer Duncan Larcombe told the Mirror. “Carole and Michael will have essentially thrown a safety blanket around the young children to help protect them.”
“In times like this for Kate, it is hugely important. It is crucial the children are looked after carefully,” he added.
Larcombe added that both Michael and Carole are also supporting William, whom they consider their “adopted son.”
Larcombe said that both Michael and Carole are “desperately upset” about their eldest daughter’s diagnosis.
While Middleton’s parents aren’t ones for revealing details about their private life, the princess’s mom previously gushed about being a grandmother, saying she will always take an active role when it comes to her grandkids.
“I want to run down the hills, climb the trees and go through the tunnel at the playground,” she told Good Housekeeping in 2021.

“As long as I am able to, that’s what I’ll be doing. I cook with them, I muck around dancing, we go on bike rides.”
Since the Prince and Princess of Wales made Windsor their permanent home base last year, Carole and Michael have been able to spend more time with their grandchildren.

The pair are based in Berkshire, England, located just a mere 40-minute drive from Windsor.
The couple now have more time to see their grandchildren after selling their nearly 40-year-old party supply company, Party Pieces, which Middleton’s mother founded in 1987.
