Kate Middleton won’t be returning to official royal duties until after she’s given the all clear by her doctors in the wake of her shock cancer diagnosis, Kensington Palace said Friday.
The Princess of Wales, 42, revealed she is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment after being diagnosed with the undisclosed type of cancer following a surgery earlier this year.
“The Princess will return to official duties when she is cleared to do so by her medical team,” a palace spokesperson said after the heartbreaking news surfaced.
“She is in good spirits and is focused on making a full recovery.”

The mother-of-three had already stepped back from her duties after having the abdominal surgery in January for what she thought, at the time, was a non-cancerous condition.
She then started chemo in late February after post-operative tests and results uncovered the disease.
While Kate continues her treatment, the palace said Prince William will carry on with his official royal appearances.
“The Prince will continue to balance supporting his wife and family and maintaining his official duties as he has done since the start of the year,” a palace spokesperson said.

The Prince of Wales is expected to make a return to royal duties as soon as the couple’s children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis — return to school after the Easter holiday break.
It comes after Kate, in a videotaped message, described her diagnosis as a “huge shock.”
“William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” she said.

“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK.”
The royal stopped short of revealing what type of cancer she is battling, but insisted she is “well and getting stronger every day.”
News of her shocking diagnosis shuts down rampant speculation that has been swirling for weeks about the Princess of Wales’ health after she disappeared from public view.
Initially, the details of her surgery were kept shrouded in secrecy.
At the time, Kensington Palace had only disclosed that the operation was a success and that the royal had spent two weeks at the hospital recuperating.
